Root Canal Therapy (Endodontics)

Dr. Benjamin and his team provide root canal therapy at our offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn.  This treatment addresses problems with the root canal – the inner part of the tooth.  The root canal contains tissue, known as the "pulp," that extends from the crown of the tooth down through the root to the tip of the tooth.  When this tissue becomes damaged or diseased, this can cause pain, swelling, and even damage to the jawbone. When the pulp becomes infected, the tooth can be saved with root canal therapy.  This treatment involves replacing the damaged pulp with an artificial material, which prolongs the use of the tooth and, often, eliminates the need for extraction.

The Root Canal Therapy Procedure

Root canal treatment is performed in a manner that is both painless as well as relaxing. Care is given to assure maximum comfort to the patient.  To begin the treatment, the dentist administers an anesthetic.  When the mouth is fully numb, he removes the damaged pulp and cleans the root canal.  Next, he fills the canal with a strong dental material.  Finally, he covers the tooth with a temporary crown, which the patient will wear until the permanent version is ready.

Restorative Dentistry

  • Tooth-colored fillings.  Teeth with cavities can now be restored cosmetically with tooth-colored fillings.  These fillings blend beautifully with the surrounding teeth, and do not have the health hazards associated with traditional metal fillings. 
  • Porcelain inlays and onlays.  For badly decayed or damaged teeth, porcelain inlays and onlays are often a good option.  In addition to filling a cavity, inlays and onlays cover and strengthen the surface of the tooth.  We use the most advanced techniques in fabricating these treatments.
  • Porcelain crowns.  A porcelain crown covers and protects a tooth that is badly damaged.  If a patient is missing a tooth, a crown may be placed on the teeth surrounding the gap to anchor a dental bridge. All American Smile Dental Studios provides beautiful, natural-looking porcelain crowns.
  • Dental implants.  If teeth need to be removed, we can extract them and quickly replace them with dental implants.  Dental implants are one of the most advanced restorative dentistry options, available at both our Brooklyn and Manhattan offices.  Implants secure dental crowns, bridges, and dentures to the jawbone for a look and feel indistinguishable from the natural teeth.
